Description

It is a tropical tree growing up to 25m tall with a buttressed trunk of about 50cm in diameter, crown is dense.

LEAVES: Leaves are alternate, simple, entire, obovate, and less leathery.

FLOWERS: Flowers are yellow and form into groups in leaf axils.

FRUITS: Fruits are fleshy, green but turn yellow in colour when ripe and oval in shape.

 

Uses

1. The plant is mainly used as a food and local medicinal use.

2. Seeds are used in cooking to thicken soups and stew.

3. Bark is used to treat diarrhoea, poisoning, wounds, pains and toothache.

4. It is used for heavy construction work.
